Minister promises pension hike for dairy farmers

Kannur: Dairy development minister K C Joseph reiterated that the government would take steps to hike the pension to the dairy farmers from Rs 500 to Rs 1000.
Inaugurating the dairy development office and the district-level dairy farmers' meet at Alakkode on Tuesday, he said that it is not generosity on the part of the government but the compensation for their hard work. It was after the UDF government came to power that the pension was hiked from Rs 300 to Rs 500, he added.
The benefit of the hike in the price of milk was given to the farmers, said the minister, adding that dairy farming is one such area where there is no price slump.
