Poisoning is suspected to be the reason behind their deaths and 8 other cows are currently receiving treatment.
Punjab Animal Husbandary Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike on Monday ordered an inquiry following the mysterious deaths of 30 cows at a dairy farm in Kalaudi village of Sangrur district. Poisoning is suspected to be the reason behind their deaths and 8 other cows are currently receiving treatment.
The incident first came to light two days ago when 29 cows were found dead at former village sarpanch Kuljit Singh’s diary farm and another cow died on Sunday. A postmortem examination of the animals was conducted and samples have been sent to GADVASU, Ludhiana. However, as per the clinical examination, a case of suspected poisoning seems to be the reason behind the cow deaths, revealed deputy director animal husbandary Dr Sukcharanjit Singh.
The minister, meanwhile, has asked the GADVASU team to conduct a thorough inquiry and find out the exact reason behind thecow deaths. Only few days ago, 18 cows had died in Goushala of Sangrur, but at that time excessive use of urea in fodder was said to be the reason behind the deaths. However no inquiry was ordered at that time.
